Our missions:
1. Access to information: University outreach helps bridge the gap between higher education institutions and schools in districts, ensuring that students have access to relevant and up-to-date information about academic programs, scholarships, admissions requirements, and other resources. This enables students to make informed decisions about their educational journey and pursue higher education if they desire.
2. Inspiring students: University outreach programs provide students with exposure to diverse academic disciplines, career options, and success stories of university graduates. This exposure can help students discover their passions, develop aspirations, and set academic and career goals. By interacting with university representatives, students can gain a sense of belonging and motivation, and envision themselves pursuing higher education.
3. College readiness: University outreach can play a vital role in preparing students for the transition from high school to college. Through workshops, seminars, and mentoring programs, university representatives can provide guidance on college applications, standardized testing, essay writing, financial literacy, and study skills. This support helps students navigate the college application process more effectively and increases their chances of success.
4. Diversity and inclusion: University outreach programs can emphasize the value of diversity and inclusion in higher education. By actively reaching out to schools in diverse districts, universities can ensure that students from underrepresented backgrounds have equal opportunities and access to higher education. This fosters a more inclusive and equitable academic environment and helps address systemic educational disparities.
5. Community engagement: University outreach to schools in districts helps build strong ties between higher education institutions and local communities. It establishes a sense of partnership and collaboration, creating opportunities for collaborative research, internship programs, and community service initiatives. This engagement benefits both the university and the community by fostering mutual learning, addressing community needs, and contributing to the local economy.
