
TSUULL Discussed the Artificial Intelligence Language Technology with Latvian Delegation Led By the Ambassador of Latvia, 1 November
On 1 November, 2023, TSUULL was honoured to meet the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Uzbekistan Reinis Trokša, accompanied by Chairman of the Board of language-technology company ‘Tilde’ Artūrs Vasiļevskis, the Head of the Business Development Department Kaspars Kaulins. Within the framework of the official visit of the Latvian Delegation the parties discussed the partnership with the University in the field of digital technologies.
The guests were welcomed by Acting TSUULL Rector Prof.Dr. Shuhrat Sirojiddinov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Prof.Dr. Nozliya Normurodova, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Prof.Dr. Odinaxon Jamoliddinova, Director of the Center for Professional Development and Training in the Basics of Office Work in the State Language Inomjon Azimov, Head of the Department of Computer Linguistics and Digital Technologies, Associate Professor Botir Elov.
During the meeting, TSUULL Team presented the activities for academic staff and students in the area of professional training education and research. TSUULL has undertaken important tasks such as increasing the influence of the Uzbek Language and Literature, widely promoting the national language and developing special methods for teaching it. Since TSUULL opened its doors in 2016, Uzbek Language Courses For Foreigners have been started at the University as a test version and then transformed into a large University’s educational product Uzbek School. TSUULL have gained experience in language teaching, mastering international methodical knowledge and recording positive results using them.
Arturs Vasilevskis, Chairman of the Board of ‘Tilde’ LLC, told about the company's activities and projects they have been implemented for the last years. During more than 30 years of activity, the company has created many programs for natural language processing and application of artificial intelligence to language practice. These programs mainly perform tasks such as machine translation, speech recognition and transcription, and natural language processing. The company has developed special programs for its customers from Finland, Malta, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary and a number of other countries. Now this large European company is turning its attention to the countries of Central Asia, in particular to Uzbekistan. There are many technical problems waiting to be solved within the framework of the Uzbek language. The experience of mature professionals is important in solving them effectively.
The guests were informed about programs such as the National Corpus, Morphoanalyzer, a Semantic Model created and improved by University researchers. Experts noted that these platforms are the solution to many issues in the field of computational linguistics, that the University is clearly and correctly acting in this regard and that collaborative activities will definitely bring good results.
The participants discussed the creation of many programs for natural language processing and application of artificial intelligence to Uzbek language practice and launching of the AI-powered National Language Technology Platform (NLTP).
It was noted that the programs offered by ‘Tilde’ LLC will bring a positive change in the field of official documentation. The parties agreed to jointly take important steps for the development of the Uzbek language and to make every effort to achieve the Uzbek language's rightful place on the Internet.
