History of the University
1918
The beginning of a magnificent history
Central Asian State University, Faculty of Literature and Philosophy. Nowadays the faculty is the basis of several independent universities.
1921
Central Asian State University, Faculty of Oriental Studies. Later on, this faculty served as a base for an independent university and several faculties.
1935
Significant milestones of the Faculty of Uzbek Language and Literature history
Tashkent State Pedagogical University and Central Asian State University were established. The Faculty of Uzbek Language and Literature was the first to start functioning in both institutions.
1942
The Glorious Years
The Faculty of History and Philology established at the Central Asian State University became a center for many famous scientists and artists.
1950
The Faculty of History and Philology was established within the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute. This faculty is considered to be the oldest and the largest faculty of the Institute.
1956
The faculty served as a base for many new fields
Central Asian State University was renamed into Tashkent State University and the Faculty of Philology (Uzbek, Russian, Romano-Germanic languages and Journalism) was established.
1968
A new stage in the field of Methodology
The Faculty of Philology (Uzbek, Kazakh, Russian and Tatar languages) was established at the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute and became a basic institution for all educators and philologists of the country.
1976
Institution created by prominent artists and scientists
Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute, Faculty of Uzbek Language and Literature was established. This faculty is the largest in the world in terms of training teachers of Uzbek language and literature.
1981
The only multidisciplinary faculty of Uzbek philology was established at Tashkent State University. Several independent faculties were further created at this faculty.
1998
The Great Faculty of a Grand University
Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute was granted the status of a university. The Faculty of Uzbek Language and Literature was reorganized.
2000
The largest university was the pride of Uzbekistan
Tashkent State University was renamed the National University of Uzbekistan, where the Faculty of Uzbek Philology was established as the largest center of knowledge.
2016
New era - new victories
Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature was established. There were educational programs specialized in Uzbek Philology, Uzbek Language and Literature, Theory and Practice of Uzbek-English Translation.
2018
A new educational program of Teaching the Uzbek language as a foreign language was introduced.
2019
Taking into consideration the current demand for training highly qualified specialists, a new educational program- Publishing Studies-started functioning.
2020
Russian Language program was introduced into the curriculum of the Faculty of Theory and Practice of Translation
2021
German and French languages were introduced into the curriculum of the Faculty of Theory and Practice of Translation, as well as new undergraduate disciplines such as: Computer Linguistics, Textual and Literary Source Studies, Applied Philology, Folklore and Spelling were launched.
2022
Significant steps
The faculty of Sociology was established at the university. It is ranked sixth in the national ranking of HEI and in top 1001+ universities according to THE international rating organization
