OVERVIEW

The World Food Programme (WFP) provides support to 123 countries and territories, which spans a broad range of activities to save and change lives, with the ultimate goal of a world with zero hunger.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. Feeding over 100 million of the world’s hungriest people and helping millions more around the world improve their nutrition and build sustainable livelihoods, the World Food Programme (WFP) is a key player in efforts to achieve SDG 2, which seeks to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.

The lecture was held in English and was also attended by 20 students from various faculties. The topic aroused great interest, thus many questions ensued.
