United Nations World Food Program Office in Armenia (UN WFP) Holds a Public-Talk for TSUULL Students, 18 April

We’re committed to continuing our progress to make our activities more sustainable in support of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Find out more about what we’re currently doing in Sustainability here

TSUULL opens up a dialogue with the Student Community to raise awareness on a social work perspective to SDGs. The problems such as poverty, climate change, global warming, and social and environmental sustainability concerns constitute obstacles to achieving sustainable development goals.
On 18 April 2023, Daria Shubina, Reports and Partnerships Officer at the United Nations World Food Programme in Armenia delivered a lecture entitled World Hunger: Causes and Solutions, which took place via Zoom at TSUULL University Room 212 on Tuesday. The lecture was held in English and was also attended by 20 students from various faculties. The topic aroused great interest, thus many questions ensued.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. Feeding over 100 million of the world’s hungriest people and helping millions more around the world improve their nutrition and build sustainable livelihoods, the World Food Programme (WFP) is a key player in efforts to achieve SDG 2, which seeks to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture

In line with SDG 17, which highlights the need to implement and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development, WFP works in close partnership with a wide range of national and international actors including governments, other UN agencies, NGOs, private sector companies and academia. WFP’s activities also contribute to the advancement of other SDGs, and particularly of SDG 1 (ending poverty), SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 13 (climate action) and SDG 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions).
