Daria Shubina is Reports and Partnerships Officer at the United Nations World Food Programme in Armenia. The World Food Programme (WFP) provides support to 123 countries and territories, which spans a broad range of activities to save and change lives, with the ultimate goal of a world with zero hunger. Daria holds a Master's degree from the Moscow Higher School of Economics (2019) and a BA degree from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (2016), with study experience in Sciences Po Lille, France (2015). She has worked in social and political research, as well as partnerships with NGOs in Russia and Armenia for an independent think tank, the World Bank and WFP.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. Feeding over 100 million of the world’s hungriest people and helping millions more around the world improve their nutrition and build sustainable livelihoods, the World Food Programme (WFP) is a key player in efforts to achieve SDG 2, which seeks to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.
In line with SDG 17, which highlights the need to implement and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development, WFP works in close partnership with a wide range of national and international actors including governments, other UN agencies, NGOs, private sector companies and academia. WFP’s activities also contribute to the advancement of other SDGs, and particularly of SDG 1 (ending poverty), SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 13 (climate action) and SDG 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions).
