TSUULL establishes partnerships with Indiana and Tennessee Universities

During the ongoing business trip to the USA, TSUULL Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof.Dr. Nozliya Normurodova, member of the Uzbekistan delegation of Leaders of Heigher Education Institutions visited the US State Department, engaging with representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs. Notably, discussions were held with Shannon Conehead, a South and Central Asia Fulbright Specialist, Rosie Edmond, a Program Officer from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), and others.  Julia Findlay, responsible for overseeing key academic exchange programs, also participated in discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between US universities and higher education institutions (HEIs) in South and Central Asia, with an emphasis on research stimulation.

During the trip, N. Normurodova attended the renowned "Association of International Education Administrators" annual conference, engaging in negotiations with representatives from several American higher education institutions. Of particular note was the discussion with Indiana University representatives. Indiana University, known for its Central Asian studies department, expressed interest in collaboration with TSUULL, particularly in the area of Uzbek language education. Plans were proposed to offer Uzbek language courses at Indiana University, applying TSUULL programs and textbooks. Additionally, discussions included the possibility of establishing a center for Uzbek language and culture at Indiana University.

Negotiations were also conducted with representatives from the University of Tennessee. Despite the absence of a Turkology department, the University of Tennessee proposed joint training courses in translation studies and comparative philology. This proposal involves exchanges of researchers between Uzbekistan and Tennessee, facilitating academic mobility and knowledge sharing. Furthermore, representatives from Tennessee and Indiana University collaborated with TSUULL on project preparation and explored funding opportunities to benefit scientists and students from both universities.

Additionally, the Uzbekistan higher education delegation visited the University of Maryland, one of Washington's largest universities. Our representatives familiarized themselves with the university campus, educational system, and student life requirements. Founded in 1856, the University of Maryland hosts approximately fifty thousand students every year.
