New “Mother and Child” Room Opened at Navo'iUniversity

In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 5: Gender Equality, and Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities — Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature continues to actively uphold the principles of social responsibility in its operations. The university’s consistent efforts within its third mission — service to society — have positioned it as a pioneer in implementing social innovation within the higher education system. A clear testament to this is the university’s continued presence in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, currently holding a place in the 300+ category.

In line with these efforts, the university became the first higher education institution in the country to establish a dedicated Mother and Child Room for student and faculty mothers — a bold step in fostering inclusion and care. This initiative has now reached a new milestone: with the support of the Korea International Development Cooperation (KIDC) and under the leadership of the university’s International Relations Department, a fully equipped, modern Mother and Child Room has been inaugurated.

This project stands as a practical example of how foreign investment can be effectively leveraged to develop social infrastructure in higher education. More than just a symbol of international cooperation, the new facility reflects deep social sensitivity — a gesture of support for young mothers and their children. For mothers pursuing education while raising children, it offers an environment of care and consideration. For their little ones, it provides a safe and comfortable space within the academic setting.

The opening ceremony brought together key stakeholders, including Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Dr. Nozliya Normurodova, representatives of KIDC, volunteers, and university staff. The event fostered a meaningful dialogue on women’s full participation in education, social inclusion, gender equality, and maternal and child health — themes central to both academic progress and societal well-being.

This new Mother and Child Room is more than just a facility — it is a statement. It reaffirms the university’s commitment to creating an inclusive and forward-thinking educational environment, where every student and educator is valued and supported. It also reinforces the vital link between education and community, setting an example for other institutions to follow.
