Girls’ Education: the Strongest Weapon Against Religious Extremism

On September 17, 2025, Alisher Navoiy Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature hosted a major educational event in collaboration with the Committee on Religious Affairs of Uzbekistan. The event, titled “Girls’ Knowledge — the Defender Against Religious Extremism,” drew the participation of hundreds of students both online and offline.

Speakers included Matluba Qahhorova, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Religious Affairs, and Ma’rufjon Rahimov, lecturer at the Uzbekistan International Academy of Islamic Studies. They emphasized the vital role of education and knowledge in societal development, especially highlighting the broad opportunities available for girls to pursue higher education.

“Girls today have unprecedented access to learning and personal growth,” the speakers noted. “Making the most of these opportunities, acquiring modern knowledge, and setting ambitious goals are key responsibilities for young women.”

The event highlighted that education is the most effective tool against religious extremism. Knowledgeable, morally grounded young women become leaders in protecting themselves and society from harmful ideologies.

Over 3,200 female students took part in the dialogue, asking questions, sharing opinions, and actively engaging with the speakers. The lively discussions underscored the students’ curiosity and commitment to learning.

This educational initiative is an important step in inspiring girls to pursue knowledge, defend themselves from harmful ideas, and embrace enlightenment. It reinforces the role of education as a powerful force for positive change in society.
