We Stand Against Violence

On November 22, a significant event was held at the Alisher Navo'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature in commemoration of “November 25 – International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.” This global day serves as a reminder of the urgent need to unite efforts in preventing violence, protecting women’s rights, and promoting gender equality in all areas of life.

The event brought together university staff, students, and distinguished guests, including Dilfuza Rasulmuhamedova, Deputy Head of the Yakkasaroy District Administration, who attended as a special guest. Her participation underscored the importance of cooperation between state institutions and educational organizations in addressing gender-related issues and promoting a culture of respect and equality.

Throughout the event, various forms of gender-based violence - psychological, physical, and economic - were examined in depth. Speakers and participants discussed how violence not only harms individuals but also negatively affects families, communities, and the nation’s overall development. It was strongly emphasized that any form of violence against women should be considered an attack on the country’s future, as women play a vital role in shaping the next generation and strengthening society’s moral foundation.

The event also highlighted the necessity for women and girls to be well-informed about their legal rights and freedoms, as awareness and education are key tools in preventing violence and discrimination. Participants were encouraged to speak up against injustice, support victims of violence, and promote solidarity and understanding in their surroundings.

A special focus was placed on fostering respect and appreciation for women and girls, recognizing their contributions to the family, education, science, and public life. Speakers underlined that every citizen bears responsibility in building a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where women can realize their full potential without fear of violence or inequality.

Through open discussions, interactive sessions, and shared reflections, the participants deepened their understanding of the causes and consequences of gender-based violence and strengthened their personal and collective commitment to stand against it.

The event was organized at a high professional and emotional level, leaving a lasting positive impression on everyone present. It became not only an educational gathering but also a heartfelt call to action - a reminder that ending violence against women is not only a women’s issue but a shared human duty.

Together, we say NO to violence and YES to respect, equality, and compassion.
