Visit to the University-Affiliated Academic Lyceum

June 24, 2024

The academic lyceum operating under Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature (TSUULL) continues to function as an important institutional partner in strengthening the education pipeline between secondary and higher education.

On 24 June 2024, TSUULL Rector Prof. Shuhrat Sirojiddinov visited the university-affiliated academic lyceum to review ongoing reforms, recent achievements, and the conditions created for applicants during the “Admission–2024” process. The Rector examined the organization of electronic document submission and other operational improvements. The visit was also attended by TSUULL Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs S. Normamatov, Head of the Department for Processing Public Appeals R. Umrzakova, and Lyceum Acting Director B. Adizov.

During the visit, B. Adizov briefed the Rector on the current state of admission procedures, the provided facilities, and citizen inquiries. Rector Sirojiddinov held discussions with the teaching and administrative staff involved in the admissions process and emphasized the importance of preparing highly qualified graduates.

A particular focus of the meeting was the university’s continuous cooperation with the lyceum. TSUULL regularly supports the institution by developing academic materials, co-designing curricula, strengthening methodological guidance, and enhancing teachers’ professional development. This partnership ensures that lyceum learners receive education aligned with modern standards and university expectations.

In line with SDG 1 – No Poverty, TSUULL also implements a wide range of social and educational support initiatives for lyceum learners, especially those from low-income households. The university organizes regular free preparatory courses, including language classes and subject-oriented training, designed to help lyceum graduates successfully enter higher education. For learners from low-income families, all such courses, clubs, and academic support programs are offered entirely free of charge.

Moreover, TSUULL systematically identifies talented learners from the bottom 20% of the household income group and provides comprehensive support to facilitate their transition into higher education. These young learners are offered targeted mentorship, assistance during the admission process, and, upon successful enrollment, are eligible for full scholarship coverage and university grants, ensuring that financial hardship does not impede their academic aspirations.

During the visit, the Rector also reviewed data on the proportion of lyceum graduates admitted to higher education institutions, their chosen universities, and the qualifications of lyceum teachers. Discussions addressed the stringent requirements for teaching quality, the integration of university expertise into the lyceum’s academic environment, and measures to prevent corruption in education.

The effectiveness of activities carried out throughout the year was carefully assessed. Rector Sirojiddinov provided several directives to improve the admission process and outlined priority objectives for the upcoming academic year.
