“UNLOCKING PERSONAL STATEMENT WRITING SECRETS FOR SUCCESS”, 14 MARCH, 2024

On March 14, 2024, Sabrina Chowdhury, Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, delivered a lecture at the TSUULL International Office as part of the #TSUULLTalks series.
The session explored the art of writing impactful personal statements and highlighted why they are considered a crucial component of scholarship, graduate program, and career applications. Ms. Chowdhury explained the essential elements of a strong personal statement — including clarity of purpose, structured storytelling, and the ability to connect personal experiences with future goals.
She also emphasized the importance of authenticity and individuality, noting that successful personal statements reflect the applicant’s genuine motivations, strengths, and values. Practical strategies were shared on how to avoid common mistakes, maintain a professional yet engaging tone, and adapt statements for different contexts.
