TSUULL University Professor Delivered A Lecture in Azerbaijan, 28 November
Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature Professor Nurbay Jabbarov gave a lecture ‘The Role of Libraries in the Formation of Literary, Cultural and Scientific Relations of Turkish States’ for the professors and teachers, young researchers and students of the Faculty of Library and Information Science of Baku State University (BSU).
Professor Nurbay Jabbarov first expressed his satisfaction at being at BSU, the country's most prestigious higher education institution. He spoke about the friendly and brotherly relations of our peoples of the same lineage, common history and culture. He emphasized that Uzbeks have always shown great interest in Azerbaijani literature, culture and science. Speaking about the history of relations between our countries, the speaker said that our relations have reached the highest level today with the efforts of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He drew attention to the strengthening of scientific relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in recent years, especially the signing of cooperation agreements between BSU and Uzbekistani universities.
During his lecture, the exceptional role of libraries in the formation of literary, cultural and scientific relations of the Turkish states and in the protection of the national heritage of the Turkish people was discussed. It was stated that the Turkish people, who have made important contributions to the world cultural heritage in the field of book and library culture are successfully continuing that mission even today.
Noting that relations between the Turkish states have further developed after regaining their independence at the end of the 20th century, the speaker highly valued the activity of TURKSOY — an international organization for the development of Turkish culture and art in this field. Within the framework of this platform, he specially emphasized the relations of the national libraries of the Turkish states.
The lecturer noted that the role of libraries in the life of the society is rapidly increasing in the modern era, libraries are no longer just a bookstore, but also perform the function of social institutions and cultural centers. Professor Nurbay Jabbarov gave detailed information to the audience about modern communication systems and their innovations, conducted a comparative analysis of traditional libraries and electronic libraries, and talked about the important role of electronic information resources in the integration of the Turkish people. The lecture also presented detailed information about libraries operating in Uzbekistan, their history, modern work methods and funds.
