TSUULL Students Improve their CV and Motivation Letter Writing Skills on the Workshop, 18 May
Understanding how difficult it can be for non-native English speakers to navigate the application process for competitive internships and fellowships, TSUULL International Office decided to deliver a workshop with a native speaker from the U.S. who's had a great experience in the submitting process.
On 18 May 2023, Mr. Blake Amann, a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at TSUULL University, conducted a CV and Motivation Letter Writing Skills Workshop offline for Master Students which took place at International Office Hall on Thursday. At TSUULL, the speaker teaches integrated English and leads Speaking Clubs multiple times throughout the week, helping students develop conversational skills, work on their accents, watch American movies, and learn about university life in America. He is also a Graduate from the University of Southern California (U.S.), where he studied International Relations and Central European Studies. His academic coursework primarily focused on European security following the conclusion of World War II but towards the end of his studies he became interested in the political and economic developments in Central Asia. Also he is particularly interested in the intersection of sports and development and how those two things affect the other.
Students learned how to prepare an application for American universities, how the selection process works and got some tips for performing better in every step of the selection process. Following the workshop, students gained a better understanding of what application readers are looking for when they read an application, which experiences they need to highlight when applying for a certain position and learn a number of important phrases and vocabulary that are extremely useful when writing these types of letters. Also Mr. Blake Amann shared his experience applying for the Fulbright Scholarship and how he himself successfully crafted his application as well as sharing the loads of information that he learned about the process while in university.
The lecture was held in English and was also attended by more than 30+ students. The topic aroused great interest, thus many questions ensued.
