TSUULL Public Talks Programme: Interdisciplinary Swiss Artist Ms. Lucie Tuma Delivered Artist-Talk for Students ‘Creating Spaces for Gathering and Connection: An Exploration of Artistic and Curatorial Practices’, 10 October

On 10 October 2023, Ms. Lucie Tuma, an Interdisciplinary Artist, Choreographer and Curator (Switzerland), delivered an artist-talk entitled ‘Creating Spaces for Gathering and Connection: An Exploration of Artistic and Curatorial Practices’, which took place at International Office Hall on Tuesday and provided deep understanding of art practices.

While there is no SDG for arts, culture, or heritage, the underlying SDG targets are full of cultural innovation, artistic values, and protection and promotion of heritage and values commitments. For instance, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) includes commitments to vibrant arts and cultural life while SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) reminds us of the importance of the cultural industries to fostering a sustainable social and economic life.

The lecture was held in English and was also attended by 20+ students. The topic aroused great interest, students were very much interested in the lecture and used the opportunity to ask their questions during the discussion session.

We’re committed to continuing our progress to make our activities more sustainable in support of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Find out more about what we’re currently doing in Sustainability here.
Lucie studied theater and dance in Prague, Montpellier and Giessen and worked with different mediums: performance, sculpture, painting, and walking. The artist's tecto-geological walks, which explore human attention, are practices at the intersection of sciences, aesthetic experience and speculative metaphysics. Lucie’s work has been presented in numerous exhibitions and festivals worldwide such as Gessnerallee Zurich, Tanzhaus Zurich, Gâre du Nord Basel, ADC Geneva, Usine Geneva, Südpol Lucerne, Brut Vienna, Sophiensaele Berlin, MDT Stockholm, Kampnagel Hamburg, Mousonturm Frankfurt, BoraBora Århus, Dansehallerne Copenhagen, Art Safiental Biennale 2020 (CH) and others.
