TSUULL Hosts Workshop on Elimination of Violence Against Women in Cooperation with the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, 5 December

On 5 December 2023, TSUULL hosted a one-day workshop on ‘Elimination of violence against women and girls’ in cooperation with the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the regional Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.

Malika Kadirkhanova, Chairwoman of the Committee on Women and Gender Equality of the Oliy Majlis Senate, a senior inspector of the Yakkasaray district IIO FMB XPB XKMB, lieutenant colonel Gulnora Parpiyeva took part in the workshop.

‘In order to eliminate this problem, serious measures are being taken around the world’, – said O. Parpiboyeva, Head of the Family and Women's Committee: ‘It's time to abandon the old views, stereotypes and discrimination in our society. In this regard, it is necessary to carry out comprehensive educational propaganda in order to explain that there is a punishment in accordance with the law against the perpetrators of violence. It is necessary to create an atmosphere of intolerance towards women's oppression and violence in society, to strengthen the protection of women's rights and legal interests’.

In order to ensure the rights and interests of women and girls, to effectively implement the state policy on comprehensive strengthening of the family institution, a vertical system was created that penetrates to the lowest level.

The law created a strong system of reliable protection of the rights of women and children, prevention of violence committed against them, and measures of responsibility for such actions were strengthened.

Administrative and criminal responsibility for domestic violence was also established. The fact that Uzbekistan introduced domestic violence as a separate crime in the law was recognized by the international community.
