Sign Language Interpreters Successfully Passed Their Final Examination

In accordance with clause 4 of the Resolution No. 17 of the Board of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, dated April 11, 2023, and based on the Order No. 01-56/1 issued on April 15, 2023, by the Rector of Alisher Navo'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, a Sign Language Interpreting Club was officially established.

A dedicated classroom was allocated for the club, fully equipped with the necessary facilities and resources. Today, the club operates under the leadership of Ma’mur Ahliddinov, who actively contributes to the development of inclusive education and sign language interpreting skills among students.

Following the same order, a special training course for sign language interpreters was launched in November 2023, within the 2023–2024 academic year. A total of 12 participants attended the course, where they acquired both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in sign language interpretation.

On May 13, 2024, the final examination for the course graduates took place at the university. The examination panel included Gulnora Mahkamova, Chairperson of the Tashkent City Branch of the Society of the Deaf of Uzbekistan, Otabek Sarimsoqov, a specialist from School-Internat No. 106 for Children with Hearing Impairments, and expert Muhayyo Islomova.

All participants successfully passed their examinations and were awarded certificates of completion. This marks another important step toward strengthening inclusivity in education and preparing qualified sign language interpreters who can support the communication needs of people with hearing impairments in Uzbekistan.
