SDG 4: LEARNING-BY-SPEAKING IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE ACQUISITION – PUBLIC TALK BY KIKKA UCHUNO, 15 NOVEMBER 2024

 
A series of short presentations will be delivered, organized, and hosted by Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature (TSUULL), with open access for all interested participants. This initiative is part of the university’s ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue, sharing knowledge, and encouraging active participation in global academic and social discussions.
Through its teaching, research, and community-based projects, TSUULL University contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education. By creating opportunities for meaningful exchange, the university seeks to strengthen its role as a center for learning and innovation, while also promoting inclusivity and lifelong education.

As part of this initiative, TSUULL University is pleased to invite students, scholars, and members of the wider community to join a guest lecture that will be held in a hybrid format — both online (via Zoom) and offline at the TSUULL International Office. The event is scheduled for 15 November 2024 and promises to provide valuable insights, new perspectives, and engaging discussions with invited speakers.

Overview: On November 15, 2024, the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature (TSUULL) will host a public talk as part of its #TSUULLTalks series. The lecture, titled “Learning-by-Speaking in Foreign Language Acquisition”, will be delivered by Kikka Uchuno, an experienced educator and researcher in language acquisition.
Speaker: Kikka Uchino - Kikka was born in New York City and has been living in Italy (near Venice) for nearly 25 years. She is the founder of Laugh & Learn Co. and the creator of Guided Speaking (speaking-based foreign language acquisition) and Hands-On CLIL (dynamic Content and Language Integrated Learning where students learn through doing, experimenting, and discovering). The Laugh & Learn system is a complete language method, including the learning-by-speaking approach, Guided Speaking, and hundreds of activities for every age and stage of the learning process. She has been an EFL and CLIL teacher for more than 20 years, and a teacher trainer for educators who teach from preschool to university level.
