SDG 3: HIV/AIDS Prevention Among Young People – Guest Lecture, 20 April
Area: Public Health, HIV, AIDS, World Health Organization, SDG, UNAIDS
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.
A core principle of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and of the AIDS response, is that no one should be left behind. The AIDS epidemic cannot be ended without the needs of people living with and affected by HIV, and the determinants of health and vulnerability, being addressed. The third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 3) has a target to end the epidemic of HIV/AIDS by 2030 (Project 2030). It is explicitly anchored in Agenda 2030 and organized SDGs where shared progress will be critical to ending AIDS as a public health threat.
