Scientific Conference on Translation Challenges Held
A Republican scientific-practical conference organized by the Department of Translation Theory and Practice on the topic "Key Issues in Translating and Promoting Uzbek National Works into Foreign Languages" took place recently.
The plenary session featured speeches from prominent figures, including Professor Shuhrat Sirojiddinov, Rector of the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature (TSUULL); Ibrohim To‘xtasinov, Rector of Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages; Sirojiddin Sayyid, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Writers' Union; Iroda Soliyeva, Director of the Translators' Bureau under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan; and freelance translator Nargiza To‘xtasinova from the Singapore Institute of Management Development in Tashkent.
The conference addressed pressing issues in translation, focusing on challenges in the field, the urgent need for qualified translators, and the linguistic factors necessary to elevate translation to an art form. The event served as a platform for experts to discuss ways to enhance the quality and accessibility of Uzbek literary works on the global stage, highlighting the significance of translation in cultural exchange and international communication.
