Partnership Continues

As previously reported, representatives of the Korea International Development & Cooperation (KIDC) volunteer organization established cooperation with Alisher Navo'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature. According to the agreement, 15 KIDC volunteers will study the Uzbek language and culture at the University for four months, until the end of this year. Among them, five volunteers are currently teaching the Korean language to students of Alisher Navoi University.

On November 6 of this year, Moon Hyun Jeong, Director of KIDC, visited the University and discussed prospects for further cooperation with the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Nozliya Normurodova. During the meeting, the quality of Uzbek language classes provided for the volunteers and their academic progress were reviewed. The guests expressed their gratitude for the high-quality Uzbek language and culture lessons conducted at the “Uzbek School.”

It was also announced that another large group of Korean volunteers is expected to arrive in Uzbekistan in March 2025 and they will also study the Uzbek language at the “Uzbek School” at the B1 proficiency level.

Importantly, the parties also agreed to organize permanent free Korean language classes specifically for students from low-income families, providing them with equal access to international learning opportunities. Such lessons will equip students with valuable linguistic and cultural knowledge, broaden their global outlook, and improve their future academic and career prospects—especially in fields related to international relations, translation, and global cooperation.

To date, more than 600 international learners have successfully studied the Uzbek language from levels A1 to C2 at the “Uzbek School.” Currently, nearly 100 language learners are continuing their studies in Uzbek language and culture at the center.
