New Uzbekistan: Tackling sdg4 through educational reforms and assessment programmes

On April 11th, 2022, Hilton Tashkent City Hotel hosted an international scientific-practical conference on "The role of international assessment programmes in the development of New Uzbekistan." The conference was organized by the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Quality in Education, the Ministry of Public Education, the National Center for International Research, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the World Bank, UNICEF and UNESCO.

The conference was held with regard to the launch of the test PISA-2022 in Uzbekistan, to inform the public and the international community about the education prospects in the country and to determine future plans. Representatives from all ministries and higher education institutions participated in the conference, in particular, the rector of our university Sh. Sirojiddinov and Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Nozliya Normurodova in order to increase the positive image of our university in national and international rankings. 

The PISA aims to assess students aged 15-16 in mathematics, science, reading and creative thinking. A teacher of our university, Doctor of Philosophy in Pedagogy Klarahon Mavlonova and MA student Shokir Tursunov also conducted research on the evaluation system and participate in the UNICEF project of international funds in the framework of this project. 

This conference will serve as a basis for mutual cooperation between New Uzbekistan, which is currently on the path of renewal and reforms, and leading international organizations in the field of education.
