The Korean Language and Culture Club Begins Its Activities
The “Korean Language and Culture” Club has officially launched at Alisher Navoiy Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, established through the joint initiative of the Department of Translation Theory and Practice and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The club operates completely free of charge, making high-quality language and cultural education accessible to all interested students. Classes are conducted by Associate Professor Kamola Abdulloyeva from the Department of Translation Theory and Practice, together with KOICA volunteers who bring authentic linguistic practice and cultural insights directly from Korea. At present, 15 students from different faculties of the university are actively participating. Although they come from diverse academic fields, their shared passion for the Korean language and culture unites them in a single learning community.
The main mission of the club is to introduce students to the Korean language, help them develop essential linguistic skills, and deepen their understanding of Korean culture, traditions, and lifestyle. Lessons are organized in both theoretical and practical formats. Students learn Korean grammar step by step, expand their vocabulary through dynamic exercises, improve their speaking skills through dialogues and group activities, and strengthen reading and writing abilities through guided practice. The club also offers introductory sessions on translation techniques, enabling students to build foundational skills for future academic or professional translation work. Alongside language instruction, participants enjoy engaging lectures on Korean customs, traditional holidays, national arts, cinema, and contemporary Korean society. Various interactive games, cultural quizzes, and discussion sessions create an enjoyable and motivating learning atmosphere.

Beyond language acquisition, this club plays a significant role in broadening students’ horizons. It nurtures curiosity, encourages intercultural communication, and prepares young people for meaningful engagement in global dialogue. Students gain not only new language skills but also cultural sensitivity, international awareness, and confidence in cross-cultural communication. The club provides a supportive space where students can express themselves, make new friends, and spend their free time in a productive and enjoyable way. For many learners, participation becomes the first step toward future scholarships, exchange programs, internships, or academic collaboration with Korean institutions.

Thanks to this initiative, the “Korean Language and Culture” Club is recognized as an important and promising project that opens the doors to new knowledge, enriching experiences, and lasting friendships. It reflects TSUULL’s commitment to expanding international cooperation, fostering multilingual education, and creating meaningful opportunities for its students. The club will continue to develop, welcoming all students who are eager to discover the beauty of the Korean language and the richness of Korean culture.
