The members of the scientific school “Koʻhna manbalar tadqiqi yoʻlida” (On the Way to the Study of Ancient Sources) deal with reserhing the history of our literature, literary relations, sources of translated literature. Such sources  as “Hofiz gʻazallariga Sudiy sharhi”, “Tazkirat-ul avliyo turkiy”, “Qissayi Siyovush”, “Shohnomayi turkiy”, “Kitobi podshoh Jamshid”, “Dorobnoma” have been explored and publicated.Hamidjon Homidi's scientific, creative and pedagogical activities can be demarcated into five areas: resource studies; the study of undiscovered aspects of writers’ lives in the history of Literature; tazkiranavis activity; translation; collection of our ethnographic sources. Text research is the study of a work of art on a micro level and the determination of its level. Hamidjon Homidi has published 10 monographs and pamphlets, more than 200 scientific and scientific- popular articles so far.

Professor Hamidjon Homidiy, a scholar who creatively contributes across various disciplines, organizes his research into four main directions. These encompass a wide range of topics such as source studies, the history of Sufism, the creative legacy of Eastern thinkers, and Avestan studies. Based on this, the scholarly observations conducted by the professor can be classified into the following areas:
Firdawsi and Uzbek Literature
Since his years as a graduate student, Professor Homidiy began exploring this issue within the framework of literary interaction, tradition, and uniqueness. Relying heavily on manuscript sources, he published numerous academic articles and books, including "Barhayot She'riy Qasr", "Boqiy Bo'ston Tarovati", "Borbad Marvaziy", "Shohnomadagi Shuhrat", and "Firdawsi and Uzbek Literature". 

Research and Promotion of Eastern Thinkers' Works
In this area, the researcher published over 50 articles in Uzbek, Tajik, Russian, and Kazakh languages. He also published books such as "Oliya Yaqqin Yulduzlar", "Qirq Besh Alloma Hikoyati", "Ajdodlar Sabog'i – Aql Qayroqi", "Kohna Sharq Darg'alari", "Daholar Davrasi", and "Misli-Teli Vostoka".

"Avesta" – The Source of Our Spirituality
In 2001, the 2700th anniversary of the creation of "Avesta", an ancient heritage of our ancestors, was celebrated in Uzbekistan. On this occasion, Professor Homidiy, benefiting from the world's advancements in Avestan studies, conducted numerous academic activities, including the publication of a two-volume Persian edition of "Avesta", and works like "Bundahishn", "Dinkard", and a four-volume "Avesta Dictionary". He created many articles based on these works, organized special TV programs, and produced a two-part TV series "Axuramazda Elchisi". Professor Homidiy also wrote the first-ever scientific biography of Spitamen Zardusht, the founder of the Mazdaism religion, and published books such as "Avesta Fayzlari", "Avesta va Tibbiyot" (co-author), "Avesta's Scientific and Literary Value", and "From Avesta to Shahnameh". 

Additionally, he translated "Bundahishn" from Russian to Uzbek.
Promoting National and Cultural Heritage in the Independence Era
During the years of independence, Professor Homidiy wrote articles and organized broadcasts on national heritage, cultural values, and Eastern mystics.   He later published books such as "Tasavvuf Allomalari", "Tasavvuf Qaraniydan Rushdiygacha", which received recognition and high praise from experts in the field.

Additionally, the professor has published more than thirty books, including "Mehridan Sarob Bo'lganlarim", "Gumanizm Kuychisi", "Barhayot She'riy Qasr", "Mashriqzamin – Hikmat Bo'stoni" (co-author), "Namangan Adiblari" (co-author), "O'zbek Adabiyoti", "Kosonsoy Tarixi" (co-author), "Nizomiy Dilbandlari", "Ustozlar Sabog'i – Aql Chirog'i", "Yillar Samari", and "Poktiynat Siymolar". He has also served as a member of several dissertation councils, where he acted as an opponent for over thirty candidate and doctoral theses. Furthermore, under his guidance, nearly ten young researchers have defended their theses for doctoral and candidate degrees.

Professor Homidiy is also a dedicated and proficient translator. He has translated over ten works into Uzbek from Russian, Persian, and Tajik, including "Safarnoma", "Yetim", "Qoracha Qiz", "Nishonga Tegmagan O'q", "Kohna Odamlar", "Hudud-ul-Olam", "Muqanna Isyoni", "Temur Malik", "Qaysar Chumchuq", "Vafodor Arğumoq", and "Shahnameh" (a selected prose version). His stories and narratives have been featured in books, journals such as "Sharq Yulduzi", "Tafakkur", "Sog'lom Avlod Uchun", and various newspapers. Since 1991, Professor Homidiy has been a member of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan.

In addition, Professor Homidiy is the author of several textbooks, curricula, and instructional manuals. His more than 500 scholarly and popular science articles have been published in various scientific collections, journals, and newspapers, and his work has appeared in academic compilations and encyclopedias in Tehran, Baku, Almaty, Dushanbe, and Khujand.
To date, Professor Hamidjon Homidi has successfully mentored 2 DSc and 13 PhDs.
