‘This is a great opportunity for our Student, Staff and Campus Community to get more involved in how to implement the SDGs, in particular for gender equality and healthy lifestyles, both at University, at work and at home’
– Professor, Dr. Nozliya Normurodova, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, TSUULL University
TSUULL opens up a dialogue with the Student Community to raise awareness on a social work perspective to SDGs. The problems such as poverty, climate change, global warming, and social and environmental sustainability concerns constitute obstacles to achieving sustainable development goals. Social workers play an active role in the achievement of sustainable development goals; as such, they should also be able to critically evaluate the associated processes and results. In such an evaluation, it is important that social workers adopt an ecosocial approach that centers on people and nature.
On 17 March 2023, Dmitry Levochsky, an expert in social work and palliative non-medical care of various NGOs, visited TSUULL University and held a lecture entitled ‘Case Studies: Charity and Social Inclusion Practices in Relation to the SDGs and Their Targets’, which took place at International Office Hall on Friday.
Most of the content of fundamental human rights had been included into SDGs, for instance health, education, gender equality, and women’s empowerment.
The lecture was held in English and was also attended by 15 students. The topic aroused great interest, thus many questions ensued.
Sustainable Development Goals 1, 8, 10, 11 which are related to the lecture theme, are one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations in 2015.
