Council of Europe Delegation Visits TSUULL University

On Tuesday, 8 November, 2022 Mr Sergey Dikman, Head of Innovation and Development Unit at Human Rights Directorate of the Council of Europe, Ms Krystyna Khokhlova, Programme Co-ordinator of the ‘HELP in Central Asia’ Programme and Mr Dmytro Tretyakov, Senior Lawyer at the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights paid a visit to Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature (TSUULL University). The aim of the visit was to raise awareness on European legal instruments to promote human rights and the rule of law, and their relevance in the region of Central Asia; to share the ideas on boosting the partnership between the University and the the Council of Europe, in particular, through the means of the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP). 

The delegation was welcomed by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Prof. Dr. Nozliya Normurodova: she presented the University, its cycles and study programs as well as the international dimension of the University and participation in various international programs for students. Also she emphasized TSUULL University is a small university but strives towards the best quality education available to students in Tashkent and the region.

During the one-day visit, the delegation members delivered a special one-hour guest lecture on the role of the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights in shaping the European and international human rights agenda to MA students of TSUULL University. After the fruitful discussion the students were able to ask different questions.
