Objective: The main objective of this project is to build a robust system capable of automatically identifying toponyms from Devonu Lug‘otit Turk and compiling them into a comprehensive and accessible digital archive. This system will process the text of the dictionary to discover hidden place names and provide insights into their historical context and significance. By applying advanced computational techniques, the project aims to uncover toponyms that have not been recognized or documented by previous manual efforts. This will support efforts to preserve and enrich the historical, linguistic, and cultural heritage of Turkic-speaking regions. Project Tasks: • Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on the historical and linguistic significance of the Devonu Lug‘otit Turk and its toponyms. • Technology Development: Develop algorithms using natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML) to identify and extract toponyms from the text. • Database Creation: Build a comprehensive digital archive of extracted toponyms, including their historical context and significance. • Verification Process: Implement a verification process to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the identified toponyms. • Public Accessibility: Create an accessible platform for researchers, educators, and the public to explore the toponym database. Project Outcomes: 1. Comprehensive Toponym Database: A detailed digital database of toponyms from the Devonu Lug‘otit Turk, accessible to the public and researchers. 2. Revival of Historical Knowledge: Increased awareness and understanding of historical places and their cultural significance, contributing to the preservation of Turkic heritage. 3. Integration with Urban Planning: Valuable insights for modern urban planning initiatives, informed by the historical geography of early Turkic communities, supporting sustainable development practices. SDG 11 alignment: The project aligns with SDG 11 by contributing to the protection of cultural heritage (Target 11.4), supporting inclusive access to historical knowledge (Target 11.3), and offering insights for sustainable urban planning (Target 11.7).
