Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

   Our objectives

       TSUULL is struggling to ensure that by 2030, it will achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources and achieve the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment. Furhtermore, by 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.

      In accordance with this, TSUULL has recently made a Waste Management Plan to reduce waste and work on recycling more. Here you can meet our TSUULL Waste Management Plan (TWMP).  The Waste Management Plan (WMP) addresses management of all solid and liquid refuse, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste, produced as a result of different activities within Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature.

What we do?

      TSUULL has organized "Don't litter" challenge and encouraged students to stick warning signs where they are mostly needed. The areas near the canteen, toilet and the dormitory were set the warning sign by the students of TSUULL. Student found creative way to encourage not only members of university but also the local people around. They stuck the signs on the trees of the city where a lot of litter is detected.

         Also, by the TSUULL International Office according to the TSUULL Waste Management Plan (see above) different plastic bags were organised to encourage everyone to throw certain litter to the certain bag. This program allows all types recyclables (plastic, paper, glass, aluminum) to be placed in the same container, making it easier for the user.

      At university, we have Sustainable consumption and production department which controls that everyone at university supports paperless system to reduce paper in daily workplace. It can reduce a lot of paper use that mean TSUULL can reduce CO2 emissions. The department consists of 15 people who are responsible for encouraging people to use reusable paper in back office, using 2-side of paper, rechecking data before print and etc.  TSUULL has a "Paper recycling plan" which was created in 2016 when university first opened. Our rector points out that Recycled paper and cardboard are products possessing unique recycling properties.

TSUULL Paper Recycling Plan objectives:

               To commit TSUULL community to a more sustainable future;

              To improve sustainability behaviors on campus;

              To reduce pollution generated by the university;

              To preserve natural resources;

              To create meaningful real life living and learning moments for our community regarding sustainability;

              To develop ideas and initiatives to reduce utility consumption and costs.

What we do?

              Paper use efficiency is an important piece of sustainability. With the amount of energy and natural resources that go into manufacturing paper, it is critical that we use this resource wisely. Paper is an extremely important, yet costly purchase for a campus. Even so, paper is largely wasted, often unintentionally. Therefore, our university set responsible people for paper collection and recycling. This team always controls the usage and monitors the proportion of the usage every year. Sometimes, university organises "Hashar days" which is oriented in collecting paper everywhere around the university and send it to the paper recycling plants.
