We have recently introduced a system that assesses students' skills, knowledge, and attitudes regarding essential sustainability concepts. Created in collaboration with NGOs, these surveys serve as an effective means to evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability education efforts in relation to various academic objectives and programs on campus.
After our rank in International Ranking called “The Impact Rankings” we started to teach our students about SDGs and launched Public talks, Open talks, open lectures and even introduced in elective courses.
Are you our student and would like to know how well you know about Sustainability? Check out our newly-introduced survey and share your results with us, send your results to interdep@navoiy-uni.uz
We are now eager to know how well our students are learning from this and pioneered to carry out a research on TSUULL students’ literacy in these following topics:
No Poverty
Recently, we have created a page for this SDG so that not only our partners, academic staff will be informed on our commitment but also, perhaps more importantly, our students. Our goal is to distribute knowledge on ending poverty in all its forms everywhere by ensuring that all individuals have access to essential services, resources, and opportunities to improve their quality of life. Go to this link, to see our commitment.
Quality Education
As a university our one of the main responsibilities is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. We think that the importance of equal access to education, improving educational outreach, and providing vocational training to foster skill development for sustainable futures are integral part of university governance and hence, we want our students to be aware of main ideas of what is real quality education and what should be done to provide it.
Gender Equality
As a university who is placed among top-10 universities globally for Gender equality, we consider it as a mission to teach our students to broaden their horizons on ways of achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. On the website dedicated to Gender empowerment we teach and measure the our contingents’ literacy and at the same time we struggle to achieve all targets of SDG number 5.

We are currently working with our partners to find the best expertise in measuring the literacy of our students on the topic of SDGs. If you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate emailing us on interdep@navoiy-uni.uz
We believe that our survey allows us to measure how sustainability literacy evolves over students’ time at TSUULL, regardless of their major or degree of study. Through a longitudinal study approach, we are able to compare results of surveys taken by new students with those taken by graduating students. At the beginning, we introduced writing form of the sustainability check, and here following results we have:
Participation and statistical confidence
As we have recently launched the survey, we are collecting data to measure the results. There was a total of 49 responses in September and 75 responses in October, with an 79% and 98% completion rate respectively. The number of responses doubled in November compared to previous months, likely because of the increase in interest among students.
Only complete responses were used in this report (47 and 75 responses, representing 0.3% and 0.7% of the student population respectively). In the survey, the students were asked 10 questions on general concept of sustainability focusing on key aspects of this field. (Table 1.1)
Table 1.1 Overview of the survey results for September and November.
Month | Completion rate | Errors rate | Response number | Average score |
September | 79% | 32% | 49 | 7 out of 10 |
October | 98% | 20% | 75 | 8 out of 10 |

The Sustainable Development Goals are a global framework established by the United Nations in 2015, consisting of 17 interconnected goals designed to tackle the world's most pressing challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change, and access to education. These goals aim to create a sustainable, equitable, and peaceful world by 2030, ensuring no one is left behind. Each SDG is interconnected, meaning progress in one area can positively impact others, making education a central focus of the agenda.
SDG 4 emphasizes the importance of quality education, ensuring inclusive and equitable access for all while promoting lifelong learning opportunities. Education empowers individuals, providing them with the necessary skills to address global issues such as climate change, social justice, and economic development. At TSUULL, education aligned with the SDGs equips students with the knowledge and tools to become leaders who can tackle these challenges effectively.
For Uzbekistan, the SDGs offer a framework to address national priorities such as improving education quality, reducing gender inequality, and fostering sustainable economic development. By adopting the SDGs, Uzbekistan strengthens its path to prosperity and social well-being. TSUULL, as a leading educational institution, plays a vital role in achieving these goals by integrating SDG principles into its curriculum, research, and activities. Through this, the university nurtures socially responsible graduates who can contribute to both local and global progress.
The SDGs aim to eradicate poverty, promote economic growth, ensure gender equality, protect the environment, and foster global partnerships for sustainable development. They provide a roadmap for creating a better world and offer countries and institutions like TSUULL an opportunity to lead by example. By embracing these goals, We ensures that our students are not only academically prepared but also socially responsible, empowered to contribute to a sustainable future for Uzbekistan and the world.
The SDGs are a set of 17 global objectives established by the United Nations in 2015 to address critical issues like poverty, inequality, climate change, and quality education. These goals aim to ensure a sustainable, inclusive, and peaceful world by 2030.
SDG 4 focuses on ensuring inclusive and equitable education for all. Education plays a key role in achieving all the other SDGs by empowering individuals with the knowledge, skills, and awareness to address global challenges such as poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation.
Our students can contribute to the SDGs by participating in university initiatives, such as organizing events and campaigns focused on issues like gender equality and quality education. They can also engage in community projects that address local challenges, such as volunteering for education outreach or environmental sustainability. Through academic work, students can focus on SDG-related research, helping to solve real-world problems. By getting involved, students not only contribute to the SDGs but also gain valuable skills for their future careers.
The SDGs are highly relevant to Uzbekistan as they address the country’s key challenges, including improving education quality (SDG 4), promoting gender equality (SDG 5), fostering economic development (SDG 8), and ensuring environmental sustainability (SDG 13). By adopting the SDGs, Uzbekistan can enhance its development and improve the quality of life for its people.
