At TSUULL, mentorship is not an accessory to education — it is a core academic philosophy. Through a carefully designed ecosystem of peer learning, leadership programs, and wellbeing support, TSUULL ensures that every student, regardless of background, has the opportunity to succeed, lead, and thrive.  At TSUULL, women constitute a significant majority of participants across the university’s mentoring, counseling, and wellbeing support programmes. In the 2024/2025 academic year:

  • •  Over 82% of all students engaged in peer academic mentoring (PASP) were women, demonstrating strong participation in collaborative learning and academic support initiatives.
  • •  More than 75% of students accessing advising, counseling, and academic transition support through the Student Success & Wellbeing Mentorship Network (SSWMN) were women, reflecting the programme’s vital role in strengthening women’s academic continuity and confidence.
  • •  Approximately 80% of participants in wellbeing, resilience, and personal development workshops were women, highlighting their proactive engagement in holistic support services.
  • •  In total, over 18% of TSUULL’s entire female student population took part in at least one of the university’s formal mentoring schemes, with significantly higher engagement when including leadership, scholarship-preparation, and career-readiness initiatives.

University places gender equality and women’s empowerment at the center of its educational philosophy. The university’s policies are directed toward ensuring that women have equal access to quality education, leadership positions, and professional development. Through structured mentoring, tutoring, and personal development initiatives, TSUULL fosters an environment where every woman can achieve her full academic and career potential.

These initiatives not only strengthen women’s participation in academic and community life but also cultivate leadership qualities, confidence, and financial independence among female students. By incorporating gender-sensitive approaches into its governance and teaching systems, TSUULL reaffirms its position as a national leader in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality chrome-extension:

A key structure supporting this mission is the Women’s Council, led by its Chair and composed of faculty representatives across all departments. The Council coordinates mentoring and development programs for female students and staff, offering continuous guidance and psychosocial support. Each faculty assigns dedicated tutors who mentor female students, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds, assisting them in academic planning, adaptation to university life, and preparation for future careers.

The university’s mentoring system functions through structured mentor–mentee pairings, where experienced academic staff, including senior women lecturers, provide one-to-one guidance through consultations, workshops, and academic advising. Over 40% of all female students participate annually in these activities. The Women’s Council also conducts awareness sessions on leadership, health, and legal literacy, and organizes seminars promoting gender-sensitive communication, family balance, and personal resilience. Collaboration with student organizations and external experts ensures that mentoring extends beyond academic success, fostering emotional well-being and professional readiness.

In parallel, TSUULL promotes access and inclusion through social scholarships, research grants, and internship opportunities dedicated to outstanding female students, particularly those from low-income families. These measures expand educational opportunities for women and prepare them for successful careers in linguistics, teaching, and cultural service.

The Career and Alumni Relations Centre plays a central role in professional preparation and career readiness. Working closely with publishing houses, cultural institutions, and partner organizations, the Centre coordinates long-term internships that align with students’ academic profiles. Internship placements follow transparent and merit-based selection processes—public announcements, application review, and interviews with university advisors or partner institutions. Students also receive individual mentoring and interview preparation to enhance professional competence and confidence.

Administrative procedures, including insurance and documentation, are managed under the supervision of the Career Centre, ensuring that placements simulate real-world employment. In keeping with TSUULL’s gender policy, special emphasis is placed on providing equal access for women to internship and mentoring programs. The Women’s Council collaborates with the Career Centre to encourage women’s participation in leadership, management, and cultural initiatives. Participation data are monitored annually, confirming that women consistently represent a significant share of internship placements.

Within its Empower Her initiative, TSUULL has launched a suite of programs designed to build professional competence and leadership capacity among female students:
