THE GREEN SPACE PROJECTS

The Green Space Project at TSUULL, launched in 2020, is a long-term ecological initiative aimed at transforming the university campus into a greener, healthier, and more sustainable environment. Implemented twice a year — in spring and autumn — the project unites faculty, administrative staff, and students in collective tree planting, landscaping, and environmental care activities.

Objectives

The project’s main objectives are to:

  •    Increase green coverage across the university territory and contribute to the national “Yashil Makon” (Green Space) initiative;
  • •   Enhance environmental sustainability and awareness within the TSUULL community;
  •    Create eco-friendly and comfortable spaces for learning, recreation, and collaboration;
  •    Support Uzbekistan’s national goal of expanding green zones from approximately 8% to 30% and planting 200 million trees and shrubs annually.

Implementation and Activities

The Green Space Project is carried out in two seasonal phases:

  •    Spring Phase – focuses on planting fruit and ornamental trees, flower beds, and shrubs around academic and residential buildings.
  •    Autumn Phase – emphasizes maintenance, replanting, and preparation for winter to ensure plant survival and growth.

Since its launch, the project has made significant progress — over 5,000 trees have been planted on and around the TSUULL campus, turning previously unused areas into green, vibrant spaces that inspire both learning and relaxation.

A major highlight of this initiative is the creation of the Scholars’ Garden, a dedicated eco-zone within the university grounds.
Over 300 paulownia trees and various decorative shrubs have been planted here, complemented by landscape design and resting areas. The garden stands as a living symbol of harmony between education, culture, and environmental responsibility.

Maintenance and Care

The university’s facilities and administrative departments play a vital role in ensuring the sustainability of the Green Space Project. Their work includes regular irrigation, pruning, pest and disease control, and seasonal preparation of plants for winter. In addition, they oversee waste management and soil enrichment, maintaining the health and aesthetics of every planted area. These ongoing efforts ensure that the greenery thrives throughout the year, improving air quality, reducing heat, and enhancing the overall beauty of the campus environment.

Results and Impact

Since 2020, the Green Space Project has significantly expanded the university’s green zones and strengthened the culture of environmental responsibility within the TSUULL community. Through collective action, students, lecturers, and administrative staff have contributed to planting more than 5,000 trees and creating new ecological spaces such as the Scholars’ Garden. Beyond beautification, the project has cultivated a deeper awareness of sustainability, fostered collaboration between different university departments, and inspired ongoing initiatives that reflect TSUULL’s commitment to protecting nature and promoting a greener future for Uzbekistan.
