Shuhrat Samariddinovich Sirojiddinov

Rector of Alisher Navo'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature


Doctor of Philology, Academic Shuhrat Samariddinovich Sirojiddinov has been the Rector of Alisher Navo’i  Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature since 2016. Prior to that, he was the Rector of Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan, Rector of the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, Vice-Rector of the Uzbek State University of World Languages, Deputy Chairman of the Imam al-Bukhari International Foundation as well as the Head of the Department of Philosophy and World Culture at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

Shuhrat Sirojiddinov is a graduate of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, and has also conducted research at the Academy of State and Social Construction under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Samarkand branch of the Academy of Sciences and the Oxford Center for Islamic Studies (UK).


Well-known Navo’i studies scholar and textologist Shuhrat Sirojiddinov has published more than 300 scientific and educational works, including 15 textbooks and manuals, 13 monographs, 230 popular science articles. In 2013, he was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of literature for the monograph "Alisher Navo’i comparative-typological, textological analysis of sources."


Shuhrat Sirojiddinov is an Honorary Doctor of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Honorary Member of the Oxford Center for Islamic Studies (UK), Co-Chair of the International Association for Central Asian Studies (Korea), Scientific Adviser of the Eurasian Institute for Turkic Studies (Korea), as well as the chairman of the Uzbek-American Friendship Society.


Shuhrat Sirojiddinov is a member of the editorial board of scientific publications, such as Journal of “Turkologiya (Turkology)” (Azerbaijan), Journal of Comparative Literature (Azerbaijan), Journal of Eurasian Turkic Studies (Korea), Journal of The World of Central Asia.

International Journal of Humanities (Uzbekistan), Journal of “World Literature” (Uzbekistan), Journal of “Zvezda Vostoka”(Uzbekistan), Journal of “Imam Bukhari Lessons” (Uzbekistan), Journal of “Philology Issues” (Uzbekistan), Journal of “Yer Yuzi” (Uzbekistan), Journal of “Yoshlik” (Uzbekistan),  Journal of “Uzbek language and literature” Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan).


Due to the personal initiative and efforts of Shuhrat Sirojiddinov, Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature became a member of the community of universities of the Turkic Council member states.


Rector of Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, Doctor of Philology, Professor Shuhrat Sirojiddinov N.A. was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Dobrolyubov Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University.
In 2021, in accordance with the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shuhrat Sirojiddinov was awarded the honorary title of Honored Youth Coach of Uzbekistan.

In 2022, during the 54th plenary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS, Shuhrat Sirojiddinov received the prestigious Chingiz Aytmatov International Prize.

Professor Shuhrat Sirojiddinov played a significant role in the creation of the book "Boburnoma," which was translated into Italian at the request of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He served as the book's scientific and literary editor, contributing his expertise and guidance to the project.

On October 4, 2023, due to Shuhrat Sirojiddinov's initiatives, the Center for Uzbek Language and Culture was established at Osh State University in the Kyrgyz Republic. For his notable contribution to enhancing literary and cultural ties between the two countries, the rector of Alisher Navo'iy State University of Uzbek Language and Literature was awarded the honorary title of Professor by Osh State University.
