Philosophy of Mathematics

Form of conduct: Lecture, Practice

Year cycle: Academic year 2024-2025

Course content:

The philosophy of mathematics studies the nature and foundations of mathematical concepts. It explores questions about the existence of numbers, the truth of mathematical statements, and the relationship between mathematics and reality. Key topics include the nature of mathematical objects, the role of logic, and whether mathematics is  discovered or invented. Understanding these concepts can empower women in STEM fields by fostering critical thinking and encouraging women to challenge biases in mathematical practices and education.
